Stinky Messy Goo! Awesome! Never Give Up!

The lesson of the STINKY MESSY GOO! Never give up!

swallowtail-butterfly-329086_1280Have you ever had the feeling that something is bothering you but you’re not sure what?

I had that feeling 2 nights ago and I couldn’t sleep. If something is wrong then maybe there is something I’m not doing right. I guess it comes down to that old nagging feeling that maybe I’m not good enough, maybe I don’t deserve this. I must not really be worthy. Can those really still be there?

I just had a client renew her contract for another six months and send me an email telling me that I was an amazing healer. I never even thought I was a healer!

I think it has to do with the goo. What I mean is I once heard somebody tell the metaphor of the Caterpillar to the chrysalis to the butterfly in this way. When the Caterpillar is in the chrysalis before it becomes the butterfly it actually turns to goo and then forms into the butterfly. Being GOO is no fun. It’s unformed, it doesn’t feel good, it’s unclear, you don’t know where you’re going. It’s easy to lose confidence while in the goo.

It also has to do with remodeling. You know that phase when you’re remodeling, where it’s worse than it was before you began the remodel? You know that MESSY phase? It would be crazy to stop there and say oh this is worse than it was when I started so I think I’ll quit.

Or like the refrigerator analogy I love to use. When cleaning out the refrigerator when it is overstuffed with closed containers and there’s no room for more food, you have to take those containers out. And take the lids off and sometimes, for those of us who are less than perfect, sometimes the stuff inside those containers stinks. When you take the tops off there’s a phase where it’s really bad, it smells bad, it looks bad. It’s worse than before you began. So do you stop there? No you suffer through the STINKY phase. It doesn’t feel good, it’s messy, it looks bad. But you clean out all those containers and put them away. Then the refrigerator and the containers both are now clean, clear and have room for what’s new.

I think I had a mild case of the STINKY MESSY GOO.

I am about to move up to a much more powerful level in my business. I am being re-positioned, my website is being changed, my new interview series is going to be powerful and is being handled by high-powered agency. I am moving up. I’m in the goo, the mess, the stink and it’s awesome!

Yep that’s the perspective shift I needed!

Sometimes it takes a little perspective and reflection. If you see that you are in the STINKY MESSY GOO and you know that’s the middle between the initial vision and the completed project then you can say oh this uncomfortable feeling is awesome!

As soon as I realized this I actually felt better. I knew what was bothering me.

I know what was bothering me!

Stinky messy goo!

It is a necessary phase.

It is actually awesome!

When one under takes a transformative vision whether that be cleaning out the refrigerator or remodeling or changing from a caterpillar to a butterfly. No matter what the transformation there will be a stage that will be STINKY MESSY GOO. But if you know that then you’re OK and you know it’s awesome.

In those moments remember the vision that inspired you and the direction in which you’re going. When you know the vision then the stinky, messy gooey phase is just a step on the way that is necessary to completing the vision. NEVER GIVE UP!

The refrigerator story is an inspiration. After last Wed. session I started editing my memoir. It had stinky parts but some smelled delightful. To be continued at meeting Monday at 12:30
