What Makes A Moment Extraordinary?I love that the word extraordinary is made up of extra and ordinary. What makes a moment extraordinary?

It is about to be another Jewish Holiday called Yom Kippur. It is a day of fasting and deep reflection, and the asking of forgiveness and the lifting up of our souls in our lives. At this moment I am looking out my window into the trees on a morning that is crystal clear and windy with a sweetness is in the air. It is an ordinary moment and yet it is extra-ordinary.

Why? I am sitting in my usual place, looking through my usual window and writing my usual newsletter. So why is it extraordinary?

Because I am stopping long enough to expand my awareness out of the automatic. Also because some pieces of the moment are unusual. The weather and the approach of the holiday of Yom Kippur. Still I could be unaware and rushing through life and in the rush there are no moments only a blur.

That’s why I love to stop and breathe and then see what happens. That’s where stories are found. This is a big secret to finding stories forever, through your whole life and every time you need to share one with your community.

Stop and breathe and notice what is happening with, in and around you, and expand beyond the ordinary. I call this looking for the Extraordinary in the Ordinary. It nourishes the soul, uplifts the spirit and reveals stories of wonder, startling delight and clear insight!

I bless you with a life of deep and wondrous stories that light up your soul and the souls of those you love and serve.

May this be a year where you find and share and live your deepest stories and bring them out into the world to shine their light!

Take a moment and find gratitude as well! Join me right now wherever you are and whenever it is, and pause and breathe and make the moment extraordinary! Then go out and tell the story of how you made a moment of wonder out of thin air! (And share it with me too if you want.)

Ahh magic! Story magic, my favorite kind! It will change your life! I see it happening to me and to my clients and it is truly a wonder and a blessing! So may it be for you!

P.S. Remember to be extraordinary! Because you already are! And then tell YOUR story!
